Eeyun & The Co-Operators - Dub Over Yonder (Waggle Dance Records)

Just as he did a few years back for 'Vibrations From The Bionic Tabernacle', an album of reimagined tracks from 'Rhythms From The Kitchen Sink' and 'Beating The Doldrums', for 'Dub Over Yonder', Eeyun Purkins this time reworked a selection of cuts from 'Sounds From The Fridge' and 'A Distant Beat'.

By Jah Rebel

Title track and closer, ‘Dub Over Yonder’, is a re-interpretation of Perkie’s ‘Over Yonder’, though our personal favourites lean more toward ‘A Joyful Dub’ (a dub take on The Misty Tops’ ‘Cosmic Heights’), the nyahbinghi-driven ‘Bring Down Fire’ (a dub of Dennison Joseph’s ‘More Fire’), and dubs distilled from Joe Yorke originals like ‘The Singerman Dub’ (‘The Singerman’), ‘Pennyquick Version’ (‘Hard Road’) or ‘Last Night’s Dub’ (‘Last Night’s Tune’).

At the time of writing, the vinyl edition of ‘Dub Over Yonder’ has already sold out on Waggle Dance Records’ Bandcamp page (though you can still track down a copy via Discogs). Once again, pure craftsmanship from the Waggle Dance Studio and an ideal companion to the original albums!
