'Bam Bam': Reggae Geel drops a "heavy load" of first names!

As tradition dictates, Reggae Geel has unveiled the first wave of names for its upcoming edition this August. And it has to be said, the lineup is already shaping up to be seriously promising!

With many reggae veterans having either passed on or enjoying a well-earned retirement, festivals like Reggae Geel face an increasing challenge in keeping things fresh. Yet, with this first batch of announcements, Reggae Geel has once again made our (old) reggae hearts beat a little faster!

After nearly 25 (!) years, living reggae legend Ijahman Levi is making a triumphant return to the main stage at Reggae Geel!

We’re also eagerly anticipating the set from original dancehall queen Sister Nancy, making her very first appearance at the festival. Last year, the documentary ‘Bam Bam: The Sister Nancy Story’ was released, and of course, every true reggae fan knows the iconic track of the same name!

British reggae legends Steel Pulse are celebrating their 50th anniversary. If you miss their show at Brussels’ Ancienne Belgique on March 18th, don’t worry, because in early August, they’ll be lighting up the Reggae Geel stage!

Dubheads are in for a treat with a set from Hopeton Overton Brown, better known as Scientist, and arguably the most mythical figure in Jamaica’s dub scene after the great King Tubby himself!

Familiar faces Mortimer and Protoje will also be gracing the stage, bringing their signature top-tier performances.

Meanwhile, Dutch hip-hop innovator Typhoon is making his comeback, always pushing the boundaries of the genre! Hip-hop fans can also look forward to a set from West Flanders’ own ‘t Hof van Commerce, true icons of the Belgian scene.

And then there’s Kybba, a name that might still be unfamiliar to some but comes highly recommended by Reggae Geel as “The producer who breaks all boundaries. From dancehall to afrobeats and reggaeton, he does it all, racking up over 100 million streams. Founder of the basshall movement. Ready to wreck the dancefloor.”

With a lineup like this, we’re already feeling the heat! And the Reggae Geel crew is looking out for your wallet too, as you can still grab a weekend ticket for just €95!
