Following last year's 'Roots Meditation', Asha D now presents 'Vivre En Paix', another EP, this time featuring six vocal tracks and five dub versions.
While Artikal Band isn’t credited on the EP’s cover this time around, they were, of course, involved in the recordings, bolstered by the saxophone of France’s ubiquitous Guillaume ‘Stepper’ Briard and the trombone of Jeremy Matteo.
Additionally, Asha D brought in two vocal guests for the project. For ‘Le Chemin’, a track that unintentionally recalls Burning Spear’s ‘Christopher Columbus’, he collaborates with his old friend Pierpoljak. On the catchy ‘Dans Leurs Rêves’, he teams up with Uman in Brussels.
The most notable difference with ‘Roots Meditation’ is perhaps Asha D’s decision to predominantly use French as the primary language for the tracks on ‘Vivre En Paix’ (with ‘Spread Love’ as a notable exception), whereas all the songs on ‘Roots Meditation’ were performed in English. Fine piece of French craftsmanship!
