Alborosie - Dub Pirate (Evosound)

This time, no dub version of his latest album 'Destiny', but instead, one of Alborosie's 2008 debut album, 'Soul Pirate', bringing his musical journey full circle.

By Jah Rebel

For the first time, we get to hear dub versions of major Albo anthems like ‘Kingston Town’ (When I Fall In Love riddim), ‘Rastafari Anthem’ (Last War riddim), and of course ‘Herbalist’, all meticulously mixed in analog format by the master himself. Equally recognizable are excellent dubs of ‘Natural Mystic’ or ‘Nuh Betta Than Me’ (not on the original ‘Soul Pirate’ album and echoing Steel Pulse’s ‘Taxi Driver’).

The CD version of ‘Soul Pirate’ featured 17 tracks, yet only twelve received a dub remix (matching the LP track list).

Highly enjoyable dub production!

Alborosie will perform on the Gold Stage at Reggae Geel on Friday, August 2nd!
